Founded in 2006, Friends of the Eastern Promenade is the leading voice for Portland’s signature park. Guided by the Eastern Promenade Master Plan adopted by the City of Portland in 2004, we work to both protect the significant historic assets of the Eastern Promenade and accommodate the existing and evolving needs of this popular public recreation space––all while remaining true to the vision of its original designers, the Olmsted Brothers firm.

As an independent, community-supported organization, Friends of the Eastern Promenade has the capacity and commitment to accomplish goals that the City cannot achieve on its own. We work in partnership with the City of Portland––not to replace, but to enhance the impact of the park’s municipal support.

Diversity of the founding board members was instrumental to organizational success and continues to be a guiding principle today.
