Local tickets released for Mumford & Sons music festival

Missed out on tickets to the Mumford & Sons concert? You've got another crack at 'em. The State Theatre has released a block of tickets for this summer's music festival on the Eastern Prom.

The newly released tickets, priced at $69, will be available from 10 am to 6 pm today (Thursday, July 12) and tomorrow (Friday, July 13) only at Port City Music Hall, 504 Congress St., in an effort to give locals a head start on snapping up the tickets. Tickets will go on sale to the general public Saturday, July 14.

Mumford & Sons, a popular British folk rock band, will be headlining the daylong music festival Saturday, August 4 on the Eastern Prom. The band chose Portland as one of a limited number of sites for its U.S. "Gentlemen of the Road" tour. All of the 12,500 tickets originally offered for the concert sold out in 25 minutes. A portion of the proceeds from the Mumford & Sons concert will benefit Friends of the Eastern Promenade.

Friends of the Eastern Promenade will hold a silent auction for a pair of tickets for the show at the July 12 concert at Fort Allen Park. In addition, two pairs of tickets will be given out to new and current FoEP members this month.

The Munjoy HIll Neighborhood Organization provided details on the event for residents at its annual meeting in June. Friends of the Eastern Promenade and the MHNO will host a community forum in the near future to provide further information on the festival.
