Diane Davison of Friends of the Eastern Promenade and Rachael Weyand of Portland Trails led an evening Discovery Trek on Friday, October 8 exploring the new connections along the Eastern Promenade Trail.
Walkers gathered at the Fort Allen bandstand and then climbed down the 57 granite steps of the Fort Allen Trail. The trail, completed in 2009, is an important connection to the lower Eastern Promenade Trail that hugs Casco Bay.
The tour continued along the waterside trail, past Fish Point, the East End Beach and the water treatment facility. Trekkers then climbed the new Loring Memorial Trail up to the top of the hill and back along the Eastern Promenade.
